Newbury Friends of the Earth is currently running an energy conserving campaign to get local businesses to keep their doors shut. As a result the group has built strong relationships with the business community too.

A gratitude orchard in Caerphilly organised by the Ukrainian community was held at the end of January. Climate Action Caerffili was involved, and the day involved a lovely tree planting event.
Brilliant coverage of a demonstration against a new road building in Norwich, organised by a local action group. It was a bold event and campaigners wore bat costumes and symbols and marched through Norwich to protest against the controversial proposed £274m road.

Climate Action Lewisham organised an event on retrofitting and used the opportunity to talk about the United for Warm Homes campaign. 30 people attended and the event was a huge success!
Tunbridge Wells Friends of the Earth organised an art and poetry competition called "Our planet – celebration and concern". It was a chance to meet people who wouldn’t normally engage with campaign work. The competition was open to all and the public chose the winners.
Liverpool Friends of the Earth members went to the Unilever factory in Port Sunlight, Wirral to call on Unilever to clean up their dirty palm oil supply chain. This happened at same time as bigger action and 50,000+ strong petition hand-in at Unilever HQ in London.
Local action groups showed a strong presence at the Climate Justice Coalition march. As well as attending the demonstration, Bromley Friends of the Earth also held a vigil in its town centre for climate justice.
Birmingham Friends of the Earth and Footsteps: Faiths for a Low Carbon Future joined campaigners from a wide range of organisations for the COP28 Day of Action. Groups marched to the council house to demand Birmingham City Council acts on its commitment to reach net zero by 2030.
Manchester groups took part in the COP28 Global Day of Action. Groups attended a rally in Piccadilly Gardens, followed by a march to banks financing fossil fuels. Highlights include High Peak Green New Deal and Manchester Friends of the Earth members giving speeches.
The expansion of the The All England Lawn Tennis Club at Wimbledon Park has been unanimously rejected by the council . Now it'll go to the mayor for next steps. Great work from Merton Friends of the Earth on this campaign.

Cardiff Friends of the Earth did some microplastics testing in Bute Park on Saturday. It went very well and had great engagement!
Birmingham Friends of the Earth handed in its Save our Soil petition to the Council House. The group presented its petition to Councillor Mahmood who is going to present the petition at the full council meeting later this month.
Shrewsbury Friends of the Earth held a successful, vibrant and well attended demonstration against the Shrewsbury North West Relief Road. Nice work.
