1. Winning change from an unresponsive council
Up and down the country hundreds of councils have declared climate emergencies but haven’t followed through with the necessary action to tackle the climate crisis. In this session we’ll explore how you can influence your council to take climate action where direct lobbying isn’t working. We’ll take you through some key arguments to use and discuss what tactics can help to push your council to go further and faster to address climate breakdown. This training is for local groups and Climate Action groups.

1. Lunchtime talk with Joycelyn Longdon
A brief overview of the colonial history of climate, how this influences Joycelyn's academic work, and how she communicates the climate emergency through the education platform Climate In Colour.

2. Lunchtime talk with Milieudefensie
Find out how Milieudefensie, Friends of the Earth's sister group in the Netherlands, took on Royal Dutch Shell and won a historic legal case. During this lunchtime talk Donald Pols, Director of Milieudefensie, will reflect on this landmark ruling and the implications it has for other companies and governments.
